Saluki desert hounds

Hello everybody
this saluki wind hundes photos are rare evidence to what used to be part of the desert wildlife
for thousands of years and is now forbidden by low in fear the hounds will chase a hare or a desert gazelle but actually the low is there against undesired human presence in those desert areas, what's the dog's to blame for human stupidity ,after all, gazelles suffered most of all from people holding guns , shot just for nothing exactly as the salukis are being shot by rangers up to our time here in the holly land of Israel .

  1. Ofer, it was an incredible visit yesterday and both Kuti and I left feeling so inspired by your hounds, your photography, and what you are trying to accomplish. In fact, I kept picturing what a "coffee table book" might look like on the subject of the original saluki in nature. If you should so desire to attempt such a project I would glad to try and be of help. I am a freelance writer and although have not yet published a book, I know several groups and individuals who have done so on similar "desert subjects". As I said yesterday, I can give you an introduction to George Olms of Olms Publishing in Germany, who publishes the most beautiful Hebrew texts in the world these days, and specializes in subjects close to Arabian horses because he raises them himself. Also, I can introduce you to my good friend Joe Ferriss, who in fact designed and published Gail Goodman's book and many others on the subject of Arabian horses. His wife, Sharon, is fascinated by wolves and has done independent study about wolves in North America, including Alaska, over many years, and is a very talented educator who has won several awards for her approach to teaching. Your photographs are so stunning, that they would probably be just as dramatic if reproduced in book format in black and white rather than colour if printing in colour would be too expensive. Anyway, just wanted to let you know that we share your passion, although are less personally involved at this time, and will be happy to share and bounce ideas with you in the future. It was great really getting acquainted and I felt a special rapport with you, Ira, and feel that, who knows, maybe we'll do some valuable things together in the future. At least for now you should know that you have two passionate fans of your photography. Have seen no other pictures like these published anywhere and believe that you should use these as assets to help you reach your goals and dreams. Your dogs are beautiful and I was especially impressed with the quality of your litter. Have a wonderful holiday and keep in touch. We visited Dikla after leaving you and Amigo would not leave Ketem alone for one second; so I hope this may be a true heat this time. Meanwhile, all the best, Tzviah
